I learned about Digital Gardens through a passing reference to Maggie Appleton. She gives a thorough history of the phenomenon on her site so I'll comment on it summarily here.

Discussions of digital gardens I've seen all describe then them like [[https://www.bbg.org/article/potager|pottager gardens,]] whimsically untidy; a place where soft green buds of new ideas can gently emerge from fertile ground. Where these ideas can sway in the warm breezes of their keepers' minds and grow to form a leafy canopy of cross-connected ideas, allowing dappled sunlight to fall on the originator as they take sprouts, saplings, mosses, and mature timber from their digital garden and refine them into polished, finished pieces to publish elsewhere on the 'net, like market gardeners taking fresh, wholesome content to sell in the town square.

I liked the idea, but in the form I found it it wasn't the tool I needed. Hence the [[content:scrapyard|digital scrapyard]]

Fair enough. Personal records aren't organized or complete and they're not at all rigid.

Some call them personal wikis or second brains. \\
Some refer to them as systems for Personal Knowledge Management, though that sounds to me like a FranklinCovey product line.\\
